The Walther PP family was designed in 1929 and entered service in 1935. The "K" variant, short for "kurz" (meaning "short" in German) is the smaller brother. The PP began its career as a police service pistol (police pistole) and has been/is being used by many countries, in military service usually it was issued as a self-defense weapon for officers, the "K" variant remains a popular self defense firearm due to its small size to this day. Most of the time it has been carried by plainclothes police officers and detectives. It has been manufactured and sold in many variants and calibers (0.22 LR, 6.35-7.65 Browning, 9mm Browning Short, 9x18 Ultra). It is a very popular and reliable firearm
